New Legacy West Group Conference Bridge

4/3/2023 – We have a new Conference Bridge! We’ve switched providers for our group Conference Bridge. This has resulted in much better quality calls with no echo or feedback, and it is somewhat simpler to use. A win-win for us. Contact your chapter president for the Conference ID and call-in numbers. There are now several local call-in numbers for each state as well as a toll-free number. Please try to use a local call-in number if possible. Use of the toll-free number is an added expense for Pioneers.

To schedule a conference call, click on Conference Bridge Schedule on the menu above.

Beepball in the News

2/1/2023 – The Beepball volunteers have been receiving much-deserved awards and media attention. They also now have their own page on this website. It’s worth a visit! Click on “Beepball” on the horizontal menu at the top of this page. Be sure and listen to the Eyes on Success podcast. You’ll hear John Cruz and J Kelly tell all about the game of Beep Baseball and how their volunteers make the Beepballs. Then watch the video to see the group receive the 7 Everyday Hero Award. It will make you smile!

Our First 2022 Legacy West Group Project – Wheelchairs for Children

Teresa & Melissa
Melissa’s Mom, Melissa, & Teresa

A few years ago a generous Pioneer included TelecomPioneers in their will. The only stipulation was that the money be used to purchase wheelchairs for children. Each group received $16,200 to use in their territory. With the help of our Utah/Wyoming Chapter president, Teresa Lobato, we connected with the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and formed a partnership. They serve children in 7 of our states – Idaho, Colorado, Minnesota, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Through this partnership, we were able to maximize our money and purchase specialized chairs for specific children in need who do not have insurance. The first chair was purchased and delivered to Melissa, a third-grader who said “You have given me feet, nothing is going to stop me”. Melissa especially appreciates the way the chair can lift her up so she can now look people in the eye.

Four more chairs have been ordered and will soon be delivered to 4 more children. What a great project to start the 100th Anniversary of Shriners Children’s and the 111th year of Pioneers!

Pioneers Guide Star Rating

Did you notice the new logo at the bottom of our Home page? It is the GuideStar Gold Transparency seal. It indicates Pioneers has received a “GOLD” rating from the GuideStar organization. What is GuideStar? It is like the Better Business Bureau/Consumer Reports/Seal of Approval of the nonprofit world. Many people will not donate to organizations that are not GuideStar rated. Pioneers has been rated for a number of years and currently are at the Gold Level.

Chapter News Stories

Despite pandemic restrictions, our Pioneers Chapters have been finding different ways to serve our communities.  Be sure to check your chapter’s page under “Chapter Information”.   You just might see something you want to help with.  By the way, it’s ok to “steal” ideas from other chapters.  As they say “imitation is the highest form of flattery”.  Visit Chapter Information here ⇒ Chapter Information

Support Your Local Food Bank!

Now more than ever, our local food banks need help.  Minnesota Pioneers member Pat Jeukens put together a great list of basic items that most food banks need.  It’s also a good idea to check in with your local food bank for regional/cultural needs.  To view and print the list, Click Here ⇒ ITEMS FOR FOOD BANKS

Pioneering in New Territory – Ways to Volunteer from Home
Pioneers have always embraced challenges. But in 2020, we are faced with unique ones: the extraordinary need of so many Americans and how to volunteer safely during the ongoing pandemic. We need to think outside of the box. Pioneers may not be able to volunteer in person as in the past, but there are still many opportunities to help others – right from the comfort of your couch.  Want to discover how you can still make a difference, with new projects and old ones re-imagined?  Click here: Pioneers Volunteer From Home
